Purpose:

The Psychosocial Counselor works in the WFHS in ( Ghor  ) and in the field with GBV focal points to provide counseling to different types of GBV Survivors , implementing deferent forms of PSC interventions with focus on survivor centered approached. She will provide support in psychosocial counseling to GBV Survivors and follow standard operation procedure (SOP) for referral of GBV Survivors plus support the WFHS team to conduct the initiative VST activities for women visiting the WFHS.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

Responsible for day to day management of all psychosocial counseling related tasks in WFHS.

Technical Tasks:

  1. Individual counselling and or focused psychosocial support.
  2. Group counseling support.
  3. Screening the women who attend the WFHS activities and identify the GBV cases.
  4. Assessment and analysis of GBV survivor from PSC point of view.
  5. Psychosocial support and case management for women experiencing high level of distress, including some survivors of GBV.
  6. To conduct a regular follow up of the cases entering WFHS.
  7. Conduct awareness session focused PSC topics (community base psychosocial support).
  8. To insure confidentiality including all client records and WFHS records.
  9. Try her best to protect GBV Survivors from further harm.
  10. To assist GBV Survivors in designing a Safety Plan for life threatening situations.
  11. To follow ethical guidelines of GBV response established by WFHS.
  12. Provide support in vocational training activities for women who are attending the session.
  13. Make sure, proper and regular participation of women in recreational activities initiated in WFHS.
  14. Facilitate new skills for GBV survivors and advocate for GBV referral pathway.
  15. Conduct inter-generational discussions, with women of deferent ages sharing experiencing and thoughts in semi-structured way.
  16. Conflict management and peace building activities.

Reporting and coordination tasks

  1. Keep the proper recording of WFHS PSSS activities and filing system.
  2. Keep the track and attendance of VST and recreational activities and make sure the participants will complete the courses.
  3. Maintain the VST materials stock and proper distribution to women who attend the sessions.
  4. Maintain the WFHS visibility and document the PSC interventions for women.
  5. Assist the project manager to facilitate the community based interventions.
  6. Reporting and data collection on weekly, monthly and quarterly base.
  7. Assist in other duties at WFHS, requested by supervisor. 
Job Requirements:
  • Female psychosocial counselor or at least graduated from Midwifery and certified Psychosocial counseling.
  • GBV basic concepts
  • Core psychosocial principles and PFA
  • Having 2 years work experience
  • Having work experience in the field of GBV
