FMIC's PGME program is approved by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and implemented with active support from the Aga Khan University (AKU), Pakistan's PGME Programme.
The PGME curriculum sets the benchmark for educating conscientious doctors who possess excellent clinical skills, A strong understanding of the scientific basis of health and disease; the ability to provide patient-centered care in Afghanistan; and the ability to strengthen the environments in which they work through their willingness to respond to the needs of individuals and communities served. In 2012 FMIC launched its Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) initiative to meet the country's urgent need for medical specialists. A building dedicated to the PGME system was inaugurated in November 2013, fitted with the new teaching and learning facilities.
Job Description and Purpose:
FMIC is pleased to announce the induction of residents for 2020 cohort of PGME. Applications are invited from Afghan physicians for the following residency programmes:
The Programme offers an excellent training environment with close faculty supervision. To complement the training, residents will have access to Continuing Medical Education Seminars, guest lectures by eminent scholars, health sciences library, skills lab, audio visual and IT facilities. Besides rotation to teaching hospitals in Kabul, residents will have rotations at Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi for clinical training and exposure.

The training programme is open to all academically qualified Afghan physicians of either gender, regardless of religion, race, creed, colour or domicile. FMIC is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. Women are strongly encouraged to apply.
The potential candidate must have:
· MD or equivalent degree from MoPH recognized institution
· Must have passed the Medical Council Exam (Exit Exam)
Shortlisted candidates will appear in entrance test to be conducted at FMIC.
The Entrance Test brings uniformity in the system and is useful for short-listing appropriate candidates. The aim of the Entrance Test is to test medical knowledge of candidates at graduate level and English knowledge. The Entrance Test will be in English language, comprising of Multiple Choice Questions in basic health sciences, respective disciplines, knowledge about public health and competency in English language. The date for the Entrance Test will be communicated later.
