AFRANE (Amitié Franco-Afghane) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1980 to provide humanitarian assistance to communities in Afghanistan.
AFRANE has worked in the education sector since 1996. Our goal is to provide an adequate school atmosphere and enhance the standard of education in Afghanistan. Alternatively, We apply a holistic approach which also includes the construction and rehabilitation of schools, the creation of libraries and laboratories, teacher training, school material distribution, etc.
In 4 provinces, AFRANE operates only in public schools: Kabul, Bamiyan, Parwan and Nangarhar. More than 670,000 students profit from our acts. AFRANE-supported French teaching is currently conducted in 4 establishments in Charikar and Jalalabad.

Under the supervision of the Head of Mission and the Pedagogical Coordinator, and with the guidance provided by the Pedagogical Advisor, the French language trainer accompanies the French teachers of the schools sponsored by AFRANE in charikar and jalalabad as well as their establishments; It inspires them, guides them to improve their skills, organizes student assessments and organizes teacher training sessions according to class observations.
He/she is also responsible for maintaining ties with French institutions in Afghanistan (IFA, French high schools), keeping up with trends in French teaching in Afghanistan (FLE teachers' union, teaching methods, ALEM initiative, etc.) and writing reports and grant applications for FLE projects in coordination with AFRANE officials.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Help to teachers of French as a foreign language
Follow FLE teachers ' teaching activities: evaluation of French classes, telephone and email availability, request for and receipt of monthly reports;
Supporting the creation of teacher training courses, helping to build preparatory boards,
Evaluation of FLE teachers' education level by evaluation,
Follow the semester and year-end tests and schedule a DELF simulation for levels 6, 9 and 12,
Follow the students and teachers training for DELF,
Analyze the DELF results and the observations / examinations undertaken, write a report on this subject,Organize FFL teacher training courses to build synergies between them and develop their language level and teaching skills;
Offer teachers individual curriculum ideas in line with their constraints and ensure follow-up,
Ensure the FLE teachers comply with AFRANE procedures and job requirements.
Technical support for teaching French as a foreign language
Maintain relationships with the school directors who give French as a foreign language,
Accept affiliation agreements and track their teachers and school compliance;
Assist and advise schools that wish to develop FLE courses: process, recruitment etc.
Organize mediations in the event of disagreement or difficulty between the establishment of the school and the teaching practice of French (organisation, etc.),
Track the necessities of French teachers and classes from a material viewpoint,
In agreement with the Head of Mission and the educational advisor, evaluate the teachers and decide on their compensation according to a scale specified by AFRANE.
Maintain relationships with the French Embassy and the IFA about French teaching programmes. Keep abreast of the ALEM project activities and think about possible synergies,
Maintain ties with the French teachers' association and be present at meetings organized,
Follow the correspondence between colleges, in French,
Support the French Embassy write its final reports and demands for funding,
Help colleagues learn the methods to teach French,
Write an annual report on growth of French teaching in AFRANE-supported high schools / schools,
Write monthly reports sent to mission head,
Helping expatriates communicate with other non-French speaking colleagues,
Carry out all other ad hoc tasks needed by managers of AFRANE.
- Minimum DELF B2 level, ideally C1 level.
- Bachelor in French as a Foreign Language or Master in Educational Sciences
Experience and skills:
- Significant school teaching experience
- Good command of Word / Excel / Internet (internet research etc.)
- Computer skills
- Very good communication skills in Dari
- Ability to question oneself, have a critical mind
- Dynamic personality demonstrating creativity
- Interest in learning and transmitting
- Open to different educational approaches
- Sensitivity to human rights and children's rights
- Experience as an adult trainer
- Knowledge of English
- Knowledge of Pashto
This role involves daily journeys to charikar and jalalabad, cities where AFRANE-supported French language teaching establishments are located.
This job is a part time job with flexible hours (around 20h / week)
