Position Description:

Mobilize community leaders and social workers to declare open defecation free (ODF) village and promote the practices of proper sanitation and hygiene

Responsibilities:

  • Formation, orientation and mobilization of child clubs in the targeted schools.
  • Orientation of   teachers, members of School Management Council (SMC) & Parents Teachers Association (PTS) to tack active part in the implementation of SLTS program in the schools.
  • Train teachers, students, SMC members on Five Stare and other behavior change. Approaches and practically help them in the implementation of SLTS in the schools.
  • Formation of school catchments level sanitation committee.
  • Development and implementation of   school and community level plan of action and local level norms.
  • Sensitization of teacher, student SMC members, on use and operation & maintenance of WATSAN facilities in schools.
  • Arranging and conducting school led total sanitation (SLTS) and hygiene behavior change training to school students and teachers.
  • Use of IPRA tools for community sensitization to stop open defecation.
  • Conduct pre-trigger, triggering and post triggering session in the targeted schools.
  • Development of social map and base line data based on monitoring indicators.
  • Formation and mobilization of Community Action Group(CAG) if required.
  • Reward and recognition of individual/schools/communities who tack active part in the implementation of school sanitation plan.
  • Conduct base-line and end-line school assessment together with the Field Officer and SLTS supervisor.
  • Promotion of innovative and creative activities in sanitation.
  • Self-monitoring and follow-up of school and community level actions.
  • Develop the capacity of teachers and School Management Committees and ensure that sanitation and MHM services are provided to girls in the targeted schools in sustainable manner.
  • Report the performed activities on monthly and quarterly base to Field Officer, SLTS Supervisor, Regional Manager and Hygiene and Sanitation Coordinator.
  • The holder of this position must strictly follow the organization existing security policies, procedures and daily instructions of the safety personnel.
  • Any other relevant tasks are given by the supervisor

 

Job Requirements:

Education/ Qualification and Employment Benefits                                         

Education: University degree is required and Bachelor in Public Health is preferred

Experience: Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in WASH Public Health related projects is required.

Other qualifications’ an advantage:

Good communication skills, experience in Hygiene promotion, good community work, adaptation to traditional or local community, honesty and  hard worker,

Languages: the applicants should be able to speak both Pashto and Dari fluently. English is preferred.
